August 31, 2021 - HWF Covid-19 Policy Guidelines

The Board of Trustees of The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of NM have posted the organization's policy guidelines here: wurlitzerfoundation.org/assets/pdf/hwf_covid_guidelines.pdf

July 27, 2020 - Application Process Resuming

Based on current circumstances we plan on resuming the selection process and look forward to making final selections over the next few weeks.

While the HWF is optimistic about proceeding, we also acknowledge that the pandemic brings a level of unpredictability that may result in a change in this plan. For this reason we will be revisiting this plan in mid-August, before making grantee announcements.

July 16, 2020 - Fall Session on Schedule

Because of several factors, including the nature of the HWF residency program providing individual living spaces, and the current status of government restrictions, we plan to hold the fall residency as scheduled (Sep. 15 - Dec. 10, 2020).

While the HWF is optimistic about proceeding with the residency, we also acknowledge that the pandemic brings a level of unpredictability that may result in a change in this plan. For this reason we will be revisiting this plan regularly before the residency is scheduled to begin. Furthermore, moving forward with the residency will necessitate a series of modifications to the residency program, including preventative and precautionary measures.

June 8, 2020 - Application Selection Process Delayed

Due to delays associated with the Coronavirus pandemic and the cancellation of our 2020 summer residency session, notifications of the results of the application selection process will be postponed until August 1st, or until a decision is made regarding the fall 2020 residency session.

April 15, 2020 - Summer Session Cancelled

The Board of Trustees of The Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico made the difficult decision to cancel the residency session scheduled for June-August, 2020.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, New Mexico is under a strict stay-at-home directive by the Governor of the State Of New Mexico, and we must comply, not only to meet the letter of the law, but also to protect residents at our campus and within our community.

Grantees affected by the cancellation will have the opportunity to reschedule for the next available residency session.

The current plan for residency session #3 (September - December, 2020) is to remain open as scheduled. The HWF Board will review this plan periodically and this page will be updated with any changes. Grantees potentially affected will be notified via email.
